Let me tell you now. I'm a writer for excellence. This doesn't mean I'm a great writer, but it means writing is what I can do the best. I can try drawing, photographing, dancing, singing, acting. But I am a writer.

Still, we do have a problem, for English isn't my native language. And most of you wouldn't understand Portuguese. I can try translating my texts, but it will be a poor translation, for I'm not an English genius. I fear my lines may lose their feeling, their magic. Still I can try, someday.

For now, I guess I'll try showing you my poor attempts at drawing and photographing.

Hope you enjoy. Be your enjoyment looking in amazement or laughing in pity.

Who watches the Watchmen?

Mon Mar 23, 2009, 11:54 AM
I finally watched Watchmen.

And it was indeed amazing.

Although many can find the story quite confusing, it is wonderful. I must say I am biased, because I read the comic book. The sequences and the way they are broken to tell personal stories are breathtaking. Jon's sequence, his time in Mars was extremely beautiful. I can say that about everything in the movie. Absolutely everything. And even the change in the end, it still fit perfectly the original idea. *Claps*

Now, to the actors. Many are saying all the actors are just average. I wouldn't say that. Okay, most of them are average. Laurie wasn't that good, Ozymandias was a bit too soft. But Nite Owl and his love-fear relation with his uniform, the first Silk Spectre and her love and shame... All my respect to Rorschach. The actor was very good and could fit perfectly into the character's spirit. But who surprised me the most was Jon. They say it takes a good actor to show emotions. But it takes a great actor to keep that blank expression with so subtle changes. Like the comic's Jon.

(Besides, Silhouette was gorgeous. 1940's Minutemen, the first group, to the ones who didn't relate. The lesbian one.)

And they were still daring enough to keep Jon naked, like he usually is. Why? Because he just doesn't care about such minimal affairs. Action scenes? Great. Sceneries? Beautiful. Music? Perfectly matching. Special effects? The best.

What more can I say?

(Yeah, I do love Rorsch and Jon...)
